MMPI Canada, the leading Canadian producer of trade shows, conferences and consumer shows, has been acquired by Informa plc for total consideration of $53 million. London Stock Exchange listed Informa is the largest publicly-owned organizer of conferences and courses in the world, with an output of over 8,500 events annually.

JEGI CLARITY (www.jegiclarity.com) of New York, NY, the leading independent investment bank for the media, information, marketing services, and technology sectors, represented MMPI Canada in this transaction and acted as its exclusive financial advisor.

MMPI Canada produces and manages over 55 seminars, conferences, trade and consumer shows every year. As a well-known entity, MMPI Canada produces events in many sectors, including construction, design, craft, art, real estate, furniture, furnishings and food. MMPI Canada’s mission is to create, produce and manage relevant and profitable events, where successful business relationships are formed and nurtured.

In its Interim Results on July 25, Informa stated, “With specialization in construction, real estate, interior design and furnishing, the business (MMPI Canada) fits well with our sector strengths, and we are confident about the opportunities that exist to grow the business within Informa by launching new shows or geo-cloning existing ones into new markets.”

In commenting on the transaction, Managing Director Richard Mead of JEGI CLARITY said: “There was considerable interest from both strategic and financial buyers reflecting the leading market position of MMPI Canada, and the quality of its management. This underscores the ongoing strength of the events model in B2B and B2C marketing.”
