JEGI CLARITY advised the management team of Dennis Publishing on their terms with Exponent as well as providing market intelligence and guidance around the sale process.

Dennis Publishing is a leading consumer media and e-commerce organization which owns several award-winning brands including its flagship title, The Week. Operating in the UK and US markets, Dennis’ portfolio consists of over 30 brands operating across four key verticals: Current Affairs, Technology, Automotive and Special Interest. In addition to The Week, it is home to a number of well-known brands including MoneyWeek, BuyaCar.co.uk, Auto Express, Car Buyer, Computer Active, Alphr.com, Cyclist and Viz, among others. The business has a readership in excess of 50 million and sells over 2.5 million magazines every month across the portfolio.

Dennis Publishing has successfully transitioned from its traditional print publishing roots to a multi-platform publishing and ecommerce business, with a group turnover of over £165m.

Exponent is one of the UK’s leading private equity firms, investing in companies with enterprise values between £100m and £400m. Dennis is the first investment to be made from Exponent’s fourth fund, Exponent Private Equity Partners IV, LP. This investment will enable Dennis Publishing to continue into its next phase of growth.

We worked with the team at JEGI CLARITY at every stage in the transaction. A sales process can be long, daunting and full of surprises, yet we found ourselves well briefed and prepared for almost every eventuality thanks to their insight and advice. They also took the time to thoroughly acquaint themselves with our business from the outset and their knowledge of private equity and the media market in general, proved to be instrumental. Throughout the process, the team were available and continually in touch, via phone, WhatsApp, email, by day, night and weekend. As a team we are delighted with the outcome, and that is credit to the team at JEGI CLARITY for advising, steering and helping us through the process. My thanks to the whole JEGI CLARITY team for representing us so thoroughly and professionally.

James Tye, CEO, Dennis Publishing
